The Edit: 10 Basic Pieces Every Wardrobe Needs
The foundation pieces to an effortless style and what I think should be in every wardrobe.
Hi!
This year I’m going back to the basics and foundation of the wardrobe, the core of it. Because I found myself wanting to add a bit more color this year so there will also be a post later on adding trends to the wardrobe and how to style them as a minimalist.
The wardrobe is a never ending project and I love finding pieces that elevates my style and wardrobe. But today’s post is about 10 pieces that I think should live in every wardrobe. (and that has to be in mine)
1. The white tee
Yes, there’s always a lot of talk about the white t-shirt, but for good reason. It’s incredibly useful. Fit, fabric and cut make all the difference. I personally prefer a crewneck in a slightly heavier material, as it works best layered under other pieces or worn on its own. I’ve linked a few of my current favourites below.

2. THE Blazer
I’m all about the cinched in blazer, but for a staple (in my opinion) there has to be a slightly oversized blazer and I prefer one in a wool mix. My absolute all time favorite is ‘Hopsack wool blazer’ from Arket, perfect fit and timeless design.

3. Blue denim
I feel like I don’t need to tell you why, these are just a must-have. In a model that you feel good in. Personally I prefer a 90’s inspired fit, straight with a mid/high waist.
4. Tailored trousers
In every wardrobe there should be some kind of tailored pant, there are so many fits and it’s almost a full-time job to find one that fits your needs. I prefer the ones that has full length, straight or slightly wide and also pleated waist. I also find the grandpa fit very chic.
5. Wool / cashmere knit
In Sweden this is an all year round staple. Perfect layering on summer evenings and a must have during autumn and winter season. Go for a classic color and cut that will stand the test of time. If you don’t have one make sure to buy a cashmere comb to take care of your knits the best way.

6. The cotton shirt
Works for any occasion, any time of the year.

7. Little black dress
A life saver when you stand there in front of your wardrobe getting dressed for the dinner party and inspiration is zero. LBD works every single time.

8. Tank top
I prefer a fitted tank top that can be worn as a first layer or as the top for dinner out. Such a versatile piece (for us minimalists)

9. Trenchcoat
This is hands down the piece I’m most excited to wear when spring season comes. They never get out of style.

10. Ett par klassiska ballerinas / loafers
From a ‘I only wear sneakers’ (still love them though) I think a pair of loafers and ballet flats elevates a look to the level of effortless and chic they way sneakers can’t.
